Every year, Pantone, the colour people, predict a colour of the year.
Pantone is an international company who specialize in creating colour standards for brands and designers. Their name is derived from two words, “pan” meaning “all” and “tone” referring to the whole spectrum of colours, thus, they are unequivocally, the colour people.
A finger on the pulse of the world
For decades now, Pantone has captured the zeitgeist of the world and created a unique colour standard for each year. Through great economic and political upheavals, they have given us colours like Greenery (a fresh light green) Illuminating, a comforting mellow yellow, and blended colourways like the powder blue and blush pink duo of Serenity and Rose Quartz.
What’s the point?
It is fun. Nothing more than that. Each year, we in the Homemakers headquarters eagerly await the announcement of the next year’s colour. Opinions are often divided with many of us remembering some of the wilder colour choices of the early 2000’s. Will these colour predictions save lives or change the world or right all wrongs? No – absolutely not. Is it exciting to see which colourways will be influencing fashion and décor for the coming year? Yes. Yes, it is.
So, without further ado, *Drumroll please*…. The colour of the year, as predicted for 2025 is: Mocha Mousse. Yep, this year our fashion and décor world will be ruled by a colour named after a delicious desert, and we think it’s exactly what we need.
Mocha mousse is a warm comforting, embracing, and most importantly living brown.

Mocha Mousse is supposed to reflect the simplicity of those everyday luxuries that we as human beings can not only enjoy ourselves, but also easily gift to others. Whether it’s a warming drink, a delicious treat or the warmth of a comforting embrace. Mocha Mousse is attempting to be the cure-all we need as the second quarter of the 21st century dawns.
