Wanderlust: Wakkerstroom
Crossing over the (provincial) border, one lazy stroll at a time.
Maybe it’s just us, but these last few months we’ve been weird.
Popping into the petrol station shop for a snack, and not having to do the awkward pocket-pat and inevitable t-shirt over-the-nose tug because you don’t have your mask on you.
Crossing provincial borders without a second thought, and not feeling like a naughty teenager breaking curfew if you’re out on the roads after 22h00. It takes time to get used to not living in the past!
Add to this the frustrations of last-minute canceled December plans due to new variants, and we don’t blame you if you still haven’t locked down your holiday plans.
While the rest of the country will probably be heading to the coast, we think it’s time for a change of scenery. Take a sleepy trip to Wakkerstroom with us.
Time for A Road Trip To Wakkerstroom
The second oldest town in Mpumalanga, Wakkerstroom sits snugly on the border between Mpumalanga and KZN, and like most of these lovely little rural towns, you can do all the obvious things there.
Great natural vistas all around town, safe walking or cycling spots for the whole family, large dams, local wildlife, and the chance of a delicious home-style local meal all make this the perfect quick weekend getaway.
