Milk Tart “Pannetert” Recipe
If you do not enjoy a delicious Milk Tart, are you even South African? And what’s better than an authentic Melk Tert? A creamy “Pannetert”. Making these delicious Milk Tart Panneterte will give new meaning to your already loved South African dishes. Who knows, it might even give you that MasterChef feeling.
Ingredients:
1 litre of milk
Half a cup of milk
9 tablespoons of sugar
1 tablespoon of margarine
4 tablespoons of Maizena (cornflour)
2 tablespoons of flour
2 eggs
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
Making the Filling:
Boil the milk, margarine and sugar in a pot on the stove. Separate your eggs and whip the egg whites until they are stiff and put aside. Mix the egg yolks together with half a cup of milk. Add the Maizena, cinnamon and the flour to the egg yolk mixture. Add this mixture into the milk mixture and stir continuously to avoid any lumps.
When the mixture has thickened, take it off the stove and fold the vanilla extract and egg whites into the mixture. Your mixture should be stiff enough to not run over your pancake.
Serve the Milk Tart mixture on a pancake as a delightful dessert – the Pannetert. Enjoy your new favourite South African dessert.
