Sleepless in Seattle
The houseboat Tom Hanks‘ character lived in, in Sleepless in Seattle is practical with a view. A house on a lake with a breath-taking view of the iconic Seattle skyline is beyond dreamy. Need we say more.
A Star is Born
This is most probably the poster–child home for forest hideaway houses. The home in A Star is Born has voluminous large windows, clever boho interiors and a studio where you know you will write hit songs and become obscenely famous.
Twilight
Are you team Jacob or team Edward? Well, when it comes to houses we’re going with team Edward. The vampire clan’s house of glass and wood that appear to seamlessly float among the trees is as gorgeous as its shimmering owners.
The Parasite
The Park house NOT the Kim’s apartment. Although this house is the stage for some really sad and gruesome human behaviour, it is a beautiful house with floor to ceiling windows, elegantly minimalist yet warm with some really expensive looking art.
Forrest Gump
We just love the plantation–style home with loads of Southern charm in the Forrest Gump movie. The double porches (a personal lifelong dream), and the rolling lawns on the edge of a lake creates the ideal setting for a shooting-the-breeze lifestyle.
DragonFly
The Queen Anne–style home where the departed lady of the house tried to communicate with her husband. A gorgeous period home complete with ceiling dome and wraparound porch. This gorgeous Queen Anne-style home was built in 1895. Crazy Stupid Love
The view, the windows, the pool and the white kitchen, not to mention the amazing Ryan Gosling with his “photoshopped” abs. Fun fact – Pharrell Williams bought this beautiful home in 2015 for 101 Million Rand.
Hanging Up
The home’s Spanish-style and décor just speaks to our Frieda Kahlo obsession. The movie may not have done well at the box office but the home left a lasting impression on us.
Mamma Mia
Villa Donna! The Greece style villa and that courtyard is the stuff of dreams! Villa Donna and the island of Kalokairi from the film does not really exist, but it doesn’t mean you can’t get Mediterranean inspiration for your own home.
Friends
Although this one is not from the movies, it made such an impression on us that it just had to be included. Who did not want to live in Monica’s apartment? Besides it prime location in New York, the shabby-chic interiors are perfect for any smaller home.Basic Instinct
Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone might have been hot in the 90’s thriller Basic Instinct but that beach house with the magnificent ocean views were even hotter.
Great Expectations
In the movie Great Expectations the old ladies’ house, albeit dilapidated and overgrown, gives you glimpses of what it could be or once was. The real life home is called Ca’d’Zan and can be found in Sarasota, Florida. This home comes with some credentials. It was once owned by the famous circus magnets, the Ringling Circus brothers.
It’s Complicated
The elegant kitchen in this home – swoon. But the room we love the most must be the patio with the big windows and potted garden.
The Lakehouse
The plot from the Lake House might leave you wanting, but the actual house not at all. All glass and steel, with a huge tree that grows in the middle of the house, a place you can picture yourself sipping slowly on some very tall cocktails.
The Hobbit
Admit it, you would love to live underground in the cosy and warm home of hobbit Bilbo Baggins. The grass rooftops and that awesome round window is the deal clincher here. We love the way the hobbit home blends seamlessly with its surroundings, almost creating a secret hideout.
