On point designs meet the highest standards of local manufacturing to bring you the very best in comfy-blankie-magic!
Nothing beats the comfort of a good blanket, especially when its locally manufactured by a woman led team of expert weavers and designers.
Cheap imports nearly crippled the South African textile industry, but two likeminded business woman (and really good friends) are turning the tide.
According to Christina Close and Natalie Matthews they started their company with the purpose of showcasing the beautiful designs and high-quality blankets made in SA.
Initially they were called Love Jacaranda (The blankets are locally woven at Aranda textile Mills…so it made sense) but at the moment they are rebranding the business.
“As our company has grown over the last 4 years, we realized that our name needed to change to better reflect our values and what we do.”
After careful consideration, they decided to change their name to KOBO Africa.
“Kobo means “blanket” in Sesotho, and we feel that it is the perfect name for our brand!”
This name aligns perfectly with what they do: Designing and manufacturing South African-made blankets and throws. As simple as that. “KOBO Africa” embodies the essence of this brand.
Blanketing the market…
South African blankets are going global. (Well, almost.) With plans to expand their reach into the UK and European Markets, the name change makes sense. KOBO Africa tells a tale of a unique brand with African roots and a rich local heritage.
Even though the name is changing, their commitment to providing high-quality South African-made blankets and throws remains the same.
“We are excited about this new chapter in our company’s history and look forward to continuing to serve Mzansi under our new name, KOBO Africa.”
