Permanently lush greenery, all year round
They say the grass isn’t greener on the other side of the wall, but rather, there where you water it. This is obviously a metaphor for life and means that you can’t simply live on wishes and wistful dreams. To get the benefit of a lush green “lawn” you need to put in the work…
Or do you?
Are you tired of the hustle and just crave a bit of fuss free luxury in your life? (Let’s just say the grass is greener where you get it expertly installed.)
Not just lawns
Elevate your vision and take greenery to the walls. There are many options for artificial lawns, walkways, and other ground coverings, but we are talking about greening your living spaces.
The inspiration
The “green wall” or “living wall” trend has been around for a while. These intricate botanical features have many ecological benefits and are a great way to regulate temperatures in and around large buildings. Many cities are embracing these “walls” as part of their greenification projects to fight urban heat waves and deal with air pollution.
These walls are lovely. But they are also expensive, tricky to install and a lot of work to maintain.
If you want the beauty of a green wall, without the fuss, we have found the perfect solution.
A new artform
It might feel like the easy way out – but let’s discuss this as an extremely legitimate décor option. The artificial foliage of yesteryear was obviously fake, eerily uniform and clearly machine made. There was a time when you could walk into any space and instantly spot the fake plants. That just isn’t the case anymore.
These days the artificial plant world has undergone massive aesthetic changes and more often than not, you simply can’t spot the difference anymore. Think about how many times you might have walked up to an indoor plant and surreptitiously touched it to check its veracity…So why feel guilty about giving your home a green makeover?
Fake is fabulous
What’s the difference between a beautifully done replica print of some famous artwork, and a replica of a jungle wall? We say: nothing. Just like we all know that our neighbour doesn’t have an Andy Warhol or Van Gogh original in their home, but we still appreciate the beauty, let’s embrace this new leafy artform and live our best, greenest lives. There are more important things to lose sleep about. If you want the fuss free green wall, get the fuss free green wall.
Whilst we are desperately trying to motivate consumers to be more vigilant about responsible consumerism, promoting non-recyclable plastic plants seems irresponsible in my view. There are many organic options out there and much more beautiful and eco friendly and affordable. If a living wall is either not in your budget or allowed (due to infrastructure requirements, preserved real plants or moss are a much better option. These options do not require watering but are real plants and most often produced either locally or in countries where the environment is high on the agenda. Also their aesthetics is way superior than plastic. We need to become more responsible in our consumerism and keep asking how was the product manufactured, where and how.
