The New Trellidor Security Shutter!
We’ve all very excited about the new Trellidor Security Shutter, launched just a few months ago and already flying out of Trellidor franchise outlets. It’s an aluminium louvre shutter, which isn’t a new concept in home improvement, but this one has been beefed up to turn it into a proper security barrier. The end result is a beautiful shutter that we’d all absolutely love to have to secure our homes.
So what about it has made us all so eager to share it with you? Well, for one thing, it is a really attractive protective barrier for doors or windows that doesn’t look at all like a security product. The bonus is that shutters like these add value to your home because security is often high on the list of the first things that potential buyers look at when viewing properties to purchase.
At first glance, the Trellidor Security Shutter doesn’t look vastly different to any other aluminium louvre shutter on the market. It isn’t until you take a closer look that you notice that the Trellidor designers have really made these shutters a cut above the rest.
The most noticeable point of departure from similar shutters is that there is no rod down the centre to operate the louvres. The Trellidor Security Shutter is streamlined and uncluttered. The mechanism that opens and closes the louvres is hidden inside, so there are no metal bits on the outside. You simply open or close one louvre by hand and the rest follow.
The Trellidor team developed unique S-shaped louvres to ensure that the louvres close snugly, providing an upright panel with better rain run-off and less light penetration. When open, these louvres provide improved airflow.
Let’s not forget, however, that this is primarily a security barrier. Trellidor is in the security business, so their team had to ensure that the Trellidor Security Shutter was strong enough under attack to live up to their reputation for barrier excellence.
So with this in mind they:
- Reinforced every single louvre with a threaded internal steel bar along the entire length of the louvre to make it as strong as possible under attack.
- Added a patented Trellidor locking system with unique key and serial number for added security.
- Made sure that Trellidor Security Shutters provide security even when the louvres are in the open position.
- Then attacked the Trellidor Security Shutter to see how it performed.
You can see the attack test on the Trellidor website. It was probably more vigorous than it would be under most circumstances by robbers. They don’t generally arrive with a wide selection of tools and plenty of time to try their luck. Usually they are in a hurry, have limited tools and need to be quick to avoid the risk of being found out.
The Trellidor tester did some damage but didn’t manage to get through the Trellidor Security Shutter, which is very reassuring. So Trellidor Security Shutter isn’t just a pretty face!
