You don’t have to be a fashionista to feel fabulous in these wardrobes!
Give yourself some main character energy.
Ever since we were little movies and television told us that a luxury closet was a staple for any main character.
No leading man, or lady, ever had to deal with an overstuffed built in cupboard with mismatched hangers and no shoe storage…
To be the star of the show you had to have a walk-in closet. You know the scene, double doors swing open, lights go on, clothes are colour coded, drawers are impeccable, shelves and shelves of shoes, bags, accessories…mirrors, lights…Luxury.
Everyday luxuries are worth it.
Well…The average human doesn’t have this sort of home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some wardrobe magic of your own.
Bespoke furniture and home design might sound like a way out, expensive choice, but hear us out.
You deserve to feel special.
Owning a house in itself is already a big commitment, and seeing as it is probably your most expensive asset, we believe its worth spending time and money on it.
Working towards making your home your happy place is a worthy cause and if you don’t make absurd design choices, every improvement should* improve your home for future sales purposes.
That’s why we want to inspire you to get your closet act together.
Here’s a list of the Best movie wardrobes.
Whether you covet the couture closet of Carrie Bradshaw, the split-level cave of wonders of Jay Gatsby, or simply want the automated magic of Cher Horowitz (Clueless) or Mia Thermopolis (Princess Diaries), we can offer you the very best in local, bespoke wardrobe solutions.
Let’s look at what makes a walk-in closet covetable:
Floor space
You do not want to trip over things as you twirl around or strut your stuff. Make sure your space has proper flooring. We suggest luxurious carpeting or if you opt for tile or laminate, invest in underfloor heating. Remember, this is one of the places where you are most likely to be barefoot and naked – so don’t leave yourself out in the cold!
Storage
What is a closet without storage? Well…basically just a pile of laundry…So you need to focus your time and attention on how you plan to store your clothes, shoes and accessories. If you are a shoe person, invest in purpose-built shoe racks that display your footwear neatly and allows you to pick and choose whatever matches your outfit.
Top Tip! If you are a germaphobe you can even invest in a UV Shoe sterilizing storage ottoman.
Lighting and mirrors
A good mirror is more than just a looking glass. To see yourself as you truly are you need a mirror that is balanced, and does not distort, warp, or bend the image it reflects. Not all mirrors are created equal, and we suggest you contact an expert to craft your dream mirror and find your true reflection.
The same goes for lighting. Nobody wants to stumble into some bad lighting. Make use of different shades and intensities of light to give you the best idea of what your whole outfit looks like. Shelf lighting will also allow you to quickly navigate your wardrobe when you are in a rush
Hidden secrets
A bespoke closet is an excellent place to house your built-in safe. Regardless of what it is you want to keep safe, having a safe built in permanently will give you peace of mind and keep your secret things hidden.
Top Tip! If you want to organize and protect your jewellery and valuables even further, why not have custom wooden jewellery boxes made for each item?
Seating
No movie-worthy walk-in closet will be complete without a comfortable chair for the main character to sit and muse in. Nothing beats the luxury of having a closet that is big enough for a whole sofa, but even a single wingback or ottoman can do the job. It’s just a space for you to sit while you tie your shoelaces or pick your tie. These are our favourite accent chairs. Pick your style!
Tunes
The final thing you need for your super star closet, is a sound track. This voice activated Google enabled speaker is our new favourite toy. Simply walk in, and say: “Hey Google, Play my favourite song!” (And as long as you have it linked to your Spotify or YouTube Music account, you should be able to hear your favourites, on demand.)
