Visiting Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate is an experience in which all your senses will be stimulated. Benguela Cove Restaurant serves food which can only be described as art on a plate. Set in the rich ambiance of Benguela Manor, Chef Annie Badenhorst has created a succulent haute cuisine which complements the beauty of this Walker Bay estate and its award-winning wines.
Dotted around the estate and lining the walls are examples of some of the most fascinating art that South Africa has produced. Benguela Cove’s owner, Penny Streeter OBE, is an art enthusiast, collector and a proud supporter of the Hermanus FynArts Festival. The estate also presents art workshops, exhibitions and competitions throughout the year.
Artists and sculptors whose works can be viewed include Sheena Ridley, Floris Van Syl, etc.
Wine tasting on the lagoon
As an added feature to the many facilities on the estate, the Lady Bonnie pontoon boat is the epitome of maritime leisure. The pontoon can seat up to 12 passengers making it ideal for a leisurely day out with friends and family. Cruises are set for the duration of one hour and includes complimentary Benguela Cove wines.
Wine tastings
Budding wine connoisseurs will be savor the Estate’s ‘Nose your Wine’ experience. This fun approach to wine appreciation removes the mystery of wine tasting and lets you swirl your glass with confidence. Their wine tasting ambassadors will introduce you to a series of key reference wine aromas and educate you regarding wine flavour profiles –certainly a recommended group activity!
Guests are invited to try the estate’s wine pairings which include cheese & wine, chocolate & wine or Millionaire’s pairing, which are accompanied by Benguela Cove estate wines.
Benguela Cove Private Vineyard Tour & lunch/dinner
A true VIP treatment – guests are taken on a guided tour of the estate and vineyards, enjoying a tasting session of five estate wines in their vineyards while overlooking the lagoon. The tour culminates with a gourmet 3-course meal at the Manor House.
Sundays are a musical affair at Benguela Estate with live music ranging from piano classics to rock.
