Embrace the cheese factor and let your inner lover shine through.
Don’t hate the Looooooove…
The biggest Valentines Day Cliché is saying you hate Valentine’s Day. It’s not edgy or cool. It is boring and you end up looking like a grumpy cat all day long.
What exactly is there to hate about flowers, candy and kisses?
Yes – we know it’s all a money-making scheme, but it doesn’t have to be!
There is no need to go out for an expensive dinner, buy jewellery and perfume and spend a month’s salary on one night. Trust us – a chocolate and a compliment goes far!
If, however you do want to do something more, we have got you covered!
Heart shaped candy wreath
This is quick, easy and scalable. You can make a tiny little heart shaped wreath that sits on a desk or fits in a lunch box, OR you can go all out and make a massive, over the top door-wreath that awaits your loved one as they come home.
You’ll need:
A wreath shape.
You can buy polystyrene hearts, stars and circles at any craft shop, or, for the bigger wreath you can bend a pool noodle into a heart or circle before sticking the ends together with strong sticky tape.
Hot glue
(Be careful not to burn through your noodle or polystyrene shape)
Pins, staple gun, glue, press-stick, cable ties
Whatever you think you’ll need to stick your candy on to the wreath.
Candy, candy and more candy!
Now for the fun part – go out and buy every single piece of red or pink or heart shaped candy you can find and get sticking. Individually wrapped candies work best, as do mini chocolate bars, because you can arrange them easily and their wrappers can be pinned, glued or stapled to the wreath shape without destroying the candy.
Heart shaped Pizza
Once again this is scalable. If you have a pizza oven and unlimited time and skills, you should make classic woodfired pizza with a homemade base shaped into a heart. If you only have an oven and a freezer, use a ready-made pizza base, defrost, cut into a heart shape, add toppings and bake in your oven. We guarantee that if you are with the right person, they will appreciate and love you for this cute dinner treat.
Lovy lunchbox
If all of this is above your paygrade and skill level, there is still magic in a lovingly packed lunchbox. Cut the sandwich into a heart shape and add a sweet treat and you’ll be making someone’s day!

Don’t forget that you are your own true love. (Or at least, you should be!)
There is no reason to skip the celebrations if you are flying solo this Valentines Day.
In fact – there is all the more reason to celebrate yourself and show yourself some well-deserved love and appreciation. You deserve the candy, pizza and special lunchbox just as much as the next loved up couple.
Our favourite single-and-loving-it Valentines tradition to fight the blues is easy:
Treat yourself to some form of wellness experience, this can be anything from a spa treatment to a gym session or simply a walk. (these things release endorphins, and they are great!)
Then head home, get your absolute favourite take out, find a truly binge worthy tv show, read a great book or actually just do whatever you want. You do you!
