AssembLIT: Raw, Trendy Lighting for your home
Cape Town HOMEMAKERS Expo exhibitor, AssembLIT has been designing and manufacturing trendy laser cut lighting with a local twist since 2017. We spoke to owner, Jo Blair about how the company came to be, the latest trends and where they get their inspiration.
How did AssembLIT start?
My husband and I started AssembLIT in 2017. We had noticed these gorgeous trendy lighting designs hitting the international market and we thought we could create a local alternative.
Which product from your range is your favourite?
My favourite design is The Malbec from our Vineyard range. And I love the elegant simplicity of the designs in our Ocean Range.

What makes your company stand out?
Our passion for giving our customers the best (the best service, the best designs, the best product).
Where do you find inspiration?
Pinterest, Instagram, and chatting to customers.
What lighting trends are you seeing at the moment?
Lighting trends are moving toward the ‘bare bulb’ effect – which is right up our alley!
The theme for this year is Raw Comfort, what does Raw Comfort mean to you?
Natural fabrics and textures that make you feel GOOD.

What advice do you have for homeowners who are looking to redecorate or renovate their homes?
Go with your gut. If you love it, its yours.
Why should people visit your stand at HOMEMAKERS Expo?
We will have all 20 designs across our 3 ranges of wooden pendant lights AND we’re introducing our new KiDS range of animal shape desk lamps. Super cute.
