InHabit 2020 with Concrete Specialists WODC
The 2020 Inhabit Johannesburg Expo is only weeks away. With so many new and exciting things on offer at the 2020 expo, we are pleased to announce another partnership with our good friends, World of Decorative Concrete (WODC). Visitors can expect another series of demos from WODC at the Inhabit Workshop, showcasing the many creative uses of concrete in functional design. The InHabit Workshops are all about interesting DIY demos from expert craftsmen – and is always an expo favourite!
A Conceptual Approach to Concrete
Known for their conceptual approach to concrete design WODC is one of the largest concrete grinding and polishing contractors in South Africa. Their on-trend and high-end concrete projects can be seen all over Africa from the Ivory Coast and Mauritius to Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and southern Africa. With their roots firmly planted in the Western Cape, WODC is geared to operate in Africa and beyond.
WODC employ the HTC Superfloor method of grinding and polishing of concrete floors, their largest single project to date is the surrounding and base floor of the Moses Mabhida soccer stadium in KwaZulu-Natal. The HTC Superfloor method has become very popular in most segments of the construction industry, from hi-tech domestic properties and shopping centres to warehousing and aviation.
A Concrete Family
WODC is an offshoot of the mother company, Quickslab. It was established in 1995 as a precast concrete decking company with WODC CEO, Johan Coetzee, as the structural engineer. Quickslab expanded rapidly in the rib and block segment of the construction industry. Today it is a well-established company in the Western Cape.
In 2001 another offshoot, Stucco Italiano was established as a sister company to Quickslab specialising in the fast-growing cement décor industry. Stucco Italiano has since grown into one of the leading suppliers of stucco products for residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Leading architects routinely specify their products and work for their high-end projects. WODC is a proudly South African company, with all its products locally designed and manufactured in South Africa.
Advice from the CEO
We had a chat to Coetzee and he shared a few key pieces of advice. Keeping the 2020 Inhabit theme in mind, here are four quick thoughts if you are considering concrete in your next home improvement project: :
- Choose a decorative concrete product that makes you feel at home.
- Concrete goes with the natural trend – it is stylish, minimalistic and timeless.
- A home cannot do without beautiful walls and floors.
- Our Micro Cement Overlays are highly recommended.
We also asked Coetzee why he partners with HOMEMAKERS year after year. He replied: “The Homemakers Expo is by far one of the best platforms for exposure. Not only that – every year there is a new and inspiring theme. It is refreshing to see and keep up with the latest trends in the industry.”
The InHabit Workshop program is coming soon!
