Temperatures are rising and we are prepping our gardens and maintaining our homes in time for the rains. Our warmer months are finally here and prepping for it now is a good idea if you will be spending most of your time at home. Holidays have been cancelled and although borders are open and we can hit the beach, many people have simply not planned for a getaway due to uncertain times. Create a relaxing summer oasis at home with these pro tips.
Recreate the Beach
Seashells look welcoming and cosy when styled in your home. Instead of hiding your shells in your bathroom, fill a vase with sea sand and place your collection of seashells in the vase for a beautiful accent piece. If you are lucky enough to own a conch or other bog seashells, use them as centrepieces or even works of art.
Choose White
Incorporating white into your space is always a good idea for summer. Choose white accents and throws for your lounge and throw out any curtains or blinds that do not feel fresh and breezy. Fresh air is always welcomed in summer. Try some outdoor curtains for your patio area and feel summer slip right into your home.
Garden and Patio
Your garden and patio area needs some serious love around now. If you have been following our stellar gardening advice in our digital magazine, you will know how important it is to prepare your garden for the rainy season. Make sure you give your patio some love by cleaning the furniture and removing any spiderwebs and insect nests. Read our patio inspiration to get the best out of your patio.
You can go the extra mile and set up a convenient bar area on your patio. Deck it out with a classic drinks trolley that carries all your favourite spirits. A small bar fridge on the patio is also a winner in summer.
