Have fun with the design of your carport

The carport has come a long way from a simple shelter for your vehicles. Now the range of materials available to use is almost as varied as the designs seen.

Today, carports are basically the new garage. Architects and designers are even recommending that you go for a carport over a garage because they are more aesthetically pleasing in the front of your home. Their reason being that the flat face of a garage door is imposing, whereas a carport is an open space, which is more inviting.

A garage without walls

This option goes in place of where you would build a garage. You can put in the foundation to make the ground stable so that the structure stands fast. From there, however, you only need to put in pillars and a roof. The visual effect is essentially a garage without walls and is far less imposing than normal garage doors.

Aluminium designs

This lightweight metal allows you to create unique and innovative designs. It’s highly pliable, yet incredibly strong, meaning you can really have fun with the look of your carport. An aluminium frame will also enhance the exterior of your home, while providing a functional cover for your cars.

An extension of the house

Having your carport attached to the house on one side is quite a common trend, and it does tend to look very neat and tidy. It also has the added benefit of covering the entrance to your house, and providing shade. This can be very useful in the summer.

Additionally, if you still want a garage but like the idea of a carport as well, there is no reason why you can’t add on the extension in front of your garage.
