Warm up your home or office with these easy but impactful wooden craft ideas.
Did you realise that the average wooden curtain ring is the same size as tea lights? If that’s not kismet, we don’t know what is.
All you have to do is glue as many of these little guys on top of each other as you wish the holder to be tall. You can even paint them if you feel extra creative.
Glue 27 of the same size beads together, making sure to face the holes of the topmost row outwards. This cube can be used to display dried flowers, hold incense sticks or even just be part of a design feature by itself.
Still using wooden beads, why not bring some creativity to your boring key storage area? You can customise each keyring to resemble a family member. The crafty bit here is to have a block of your wood of choice cut to the correct size for the width of string you’re using. A handyman can get this done for you in mere minutes.
Disassemble your old wooden clothes pegs, grab some wood glue or a hot glue gun and get crafting. There are many ways of assembling the pegs – you can make pot rests as the image implies, or you can get more creative with serviette holders, phone stands or even cute festive decorations. Let your imagination run wild!
This link shows you all the ways you can get the fluted look into your home using sosatie sticks. This utensil holder is fun, easy and lends so much to your kitchen without being too on the nose.
Side tables aren’t always as functional as you would wish them to be. That’s why this easy rolling tray is such a quick way to solve a problem while looking cool-as-heck in the process. Will you keep the wood as is? Stain and seal it? Consider bringing a pop of colour in that can be rolled up and out of the way when you’re not feeling it.
This example is from Woodshade on Etsy but can easily be duplicated if you have the tools (or a handyman on call). There are many phone stands on the market, but none are as aesthetically pleasing as this one. It can even double as a coaster!
Though this craft is a more permanent addition to your home, it does certainly pack a punch. Metal curtain rods have their time and place, of course. But if your design story leans more toward natural finishes, linen and leather, this is the rod idea for you.
